FAQ
Commercial Insulation Questions
Straight answers for owners, facility managers and contractors. If yours isn’t here, send it with your project details.
Do we have to shut down our facility to replace or upgrade insulation?
Not necessarily. Many retrofit projects can be evaluated for phased work, off-hours scheduling or defined work zones. Whether that is practical depends on access, equipment, safety requirements, the existing insulation system and the facility’s operations. AIC reviews those conditions before recommending an approach.
Can you work in an active manufacturing plant or warehouse?
Yes. AIC is focused on commercial and industrial work, including facilities where production, storage or normal business activity continues around the project. The work plan is coordinated with the facility and other project partners.
Do you only work in Jacksonville or Northeast Florida?
No. AIC is based in Jacksonville, Florida and can travel for suitable commercial and industrial projects. Project size, location, schedule and scope determine whether travel is practical.
Do you work directly for building owners?
Yes. AIC can contract with building owners and facility operators and can also work as a specialty subcontractor for commercial roofing contractors, general contractors, restoration companies and other construction partners.
Can you replace old insulation under an existing metal roof?
In many buildings, yes. The exact solution depends on the roof structure, existing insulation, access, condition of the building and the project objectives. AIC evaluates retrofit options rather than assuming the roof or building must be emptied to do the work.
Can you work while a commercial roofer is replacing or restoring the roof?
Yes, provided the project is properly coordinated. Interior insulation work and roofing activity often affect one another, so sequencing, access and responsibility for each work area should be established before work begins.
What insulation materials do you install?
AIC works with commercial insulation systems that can include faced and unfaced fiberglass, batt insulation, spray polyurethane foam, sprayed-fiber ceiling systems and project-specific mechanical insulation. The right material is selected based on the assembly and project requirements.
Do you install K-13-type sprayed ceilings?
AIC can provide K-13-type sprayed acoustic and thermal ceiling applications and comparable specified systems. Product selection depends on the project specification and required performance.
Do you provide commercial pipe insulation?
Yes. AIC can provide insulation for commercial and industrial piping systems, with materials and finishes selected for the service conditions.
Do you provide fireproofing?
AIC can perform specified commercial fireproofing scopes using approved systems appropriate to the project. Fire-resistance design and code determinations remain the responsibility of the project’s design and code professionals.
Can you remove damaged or contaminated insulation?
AIC performs commercial insulation removal and replacement. Suspected asbestos, lead, hazardous chemicals, regulated contamination or other hazardous materials require appropriate testing and specialist handling and are not treated as ordinary insulation removal.
Can you work nights or weekends?
Yes, when the project requires it and the schedule is agreed in advance. Limited work windows are common in operating commercial and industrial facilities.
Do you provide lifts and elevated-access equipment?
AIC can include appropriate access equipment in its project scope when required. Equipment selection is based on building height, floor conditions, access routes and site requirements.
Are your crews safety trained?
AIC plans work around site-specific safety requirements and uses personnel appropriate to the work being performed. Project requirements may include OSHA training, lift authorization, PPE, site orientation and facility-specific procedures, and they are confirmed for each project.
Do you guarantee a specific reduction in utility bills?
No. No responsible contractor should promise a specific utility reduction without a full building and energy analysis. AIC installs insulation systems to the agreed project scope and specifications; actual energy performance depends on the whole building, its HVAC systems, operating conditions and many other factors.
How do we get started?
Send AIC the building address, approximate building size, photographs, roof or ceiling information, the problem you are trying to solve and any plans or specifications you have. For complex retrofits, the next step is often a site review and project discussion.
